2007 Racing Results

February 3-4, 2007 -- POC @ LVMS -- First event with the Porsche Owners Club and first time on the 2.4 mile outside roadcourse at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  A learning experience with PETE... I'd changed some alignment settings and found PETE to be very loose.  Made a few at track modifications and still couldn't get PETE to carve a corner.  Oh well, that's amatuer roadracing.  Finished 6th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday.  The POC 944 guys are a good friendly bunch. Will race with them again.

February 9-11, 2007 -- HSR-West @ PIR -- Well, after I FUBAR'd PETE's alignment settings the week before, I went back to the old alignment settings I had at PIR in December with some more tweeks I found on the 944SPEC site. PETE responded very well!  We took the pole in the Spec-944 race. Won the Saturday race. Won the Sunday race.  Eleven 944s showed up; we ran with a bunch of other Porsches.  The 914-6s would outrun PETE; the 4 cyl Porsches were left behind. A lot of super-neat vintage racecars at the track.  Also did some tire testing with Goodyears v. Hoosiers. The jury is still out, but we're leaning toward the Hoosier. Next, need to do some tire temp testing and fine tune PETE's alignment.  Sunday morning in warmup, the GPS lap timer indicated that we ran right at the track record (1:12.9) for 944s at PIR.  Will have to wait for an official SCCA weekend...

February 24, 2007 -- Seed 9 Rally @ Jean, NV -- Gene Rolfe has agreed to co-drive for Tim in this local rally.  GIRT, Gene, and Tim sucessfully completed Seed 9 in Jean, NV.  The route was a rocky, loose gravel, fantastic southwest event.  We finished 1st in Production class (RA), 1st in CRS-2, and 7th overall.  Had a great time!  Have finally decided to focus on track events. So, we're gonna put GIRT up for sale.  She's been a very dependable car; has finished every event but one.  In Performance Rally, that's a great achievement! GIRT went back to NJ, where she grew up.

March 10, 2007 -- LVRSCCA Rallycross at Jean dry lakebed... Should be nice & dusty...  GUS, Trevore & Tim went to the Rally-X.  That dry lakebed gets silty slick after the top has been churned.  Learned that by running last, it was better to find fresh dirt, accelerate through, and then get through the gate somehow. Way different from PerfRally, Autocross, or RoadRacing.  Trevore took 2nd place in R2, Tim took 1st place in R2 (Rally 2WD).  BTW, we are still cleaning GUS.

March 17-18, 2007 -- DE / PDX @ SMMR -- Another great day at the track helping folks learn performance driving

March 23, 2007 --  MINI event at SMMR. Will instruct & race PETE.  Well, we killed PETE today. Read about it in PETE's page.  Tim was alright. Not going to make PIR the next weekend.

April 6-9, 2007 -- Champ Car racing downtown Las Vegas -- Tim signed on to coordinate workers from LVR-SCCA.  Both Tim & Terry were just behind the concrete barriers as the cars raced through downtown Las Vegas at speeds up to 180mph.  A fantastic weekend with friends, cars, and a lotta work...  A couple of days later, we went on a 3 week roadtrip back east to look at new haulers. Home for a day and a half. Then to Europe for a 2 week cruise. We're back home. Time to get NIC ready.

June 9-10, 2007 -- SCCA CSCC @ CA Speedway @ Fontana  -- This was NIC's debut weekend.  California Speedway was new to Tim & NIC.  We went for practice day on Friday. Raced on Saturday and Sunday.  We qualified in 3rd both days and brought home 2nd place trophies both days.  California Speedway is a great track.  We had fantastic weather and fantastic friends to spend fantastic time while enjoying fantastic racing.

June 30, 2007 -- LVR SCCA Autocross at Primm -- We took NERO down to Primm for a LVR autocross.  NERO was just finished with a good going through that included rod bearings, ball joints, bearings, brakes, shocks, and springs.  This should keep NERO going a few more miles past his current 174k miles.  NERO was extremely neutral.  Frankly, Tim should have trusted NERO and the Hoosier tires much more than he did; we'd have gone a lot faster.

September 15-16, 2007 -- SCCA AZ @ PIR -- We'll take NIC down to PIR to help out with the double SCCA school and regional race weekend.  We've worked with Toyo and gained agreement they'll provided Toyo bucks for the Spec-944 group.  So we'll be running on Toyos from here on out.  The school was great; the students were super!  During qualifying for the regional, we lost 2nd gear synchro. We qualified 2nd, and held onto 3rd place using 3rd thru 5th gears. A fun weekend.

October 27-28, 2007 -- SCCA CSCC @ Buttonwillow -- We decided to go at the last minute for this double regional. Ran the 1ACW track. First time for Tim & NIC.  Qualified 1st both days and brought home both checkered flags. On Sunday morning, we ran a 2:18.8... not sure if this is a S944 lap record.
